I have been following Carly Booth on social media for years; she's fun, has a great personality and seems an equally good gymnast as ladies European Tour golfer.

Which is why I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Carly posting on twitter to say she was "honoured" to be sponsored by Saudi Golf.

Now I have to assume Carly Booth has a management team who advised her on this. Did they not witness the media disaster which was the European Tour's Saudi International event?  And surely to God Carly, even if she has herself a rudimentary knowledge of what's happening in the world is aware of Saudi Arabia's shocking human rights record, their complete and utter mistreatment of women and their ongoing disregard for what the rest of the world thinks? Case in point being their botched attempt at covering up the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in December.

On the day Carly announced her association with Saudi Golf on Twitter, 37 people, including boys aged 16 and 17, were beheaded by the regime.

The tweet and picture posted by Booth have since been removed but the damage has been done and I'm assuming the money has been paid to the clever Saudi's who she says are in a "different place culturally".

Come to think of it, the way that Tweet was worded, it was clearly written by management.  What kind of representative would let their star's reputation be washed down the gutter by getting involved with such an acidic sponsor?
