Eighty two times a winner on the PGA Tour. Just saying that out loud makes Tiger Woods new winning tally seem incredible. He is now tied with Sam Snead for most all time wins and has nine years on Slammin' Sammy to get one more.

The trip to Japan was ostensibly about TV and appearances and corporate obligations for Tiger and after his rusty skins game on Monday with its playful jibes of "old man" and "Dad" from Rory and Jason Day, surely not even Tiger himself thought he was going to win this tournament. Or did he?

He might no longer have the physical stature of when his was in his prime; the bulk, the muscles, even the hairline are not the same, but Tiger Woods still has the eyes, the intimidation factor and he knows how to win a tournament.

Now where does this leave Tigers and friends on the eve of the Presidents Cup?  The Masters win,  nothing since, then a masterclass in Japan.  Surely he has to play?
