Watering the pitch before a big European night used always work for Alex Ferguson and my spies tell me the USGA are putting vast amounts of water on Chambers Bay all night every night after play.

The USGA were embarrassed  after they messed up the course setup at the 2010 U.S. Amateur at Chambers Bay. Like the course Mike Davis might be softening and now I'm beginning to think an under par score might win.

The bookies have now cooled somewhat on Rory McIlroy with his price drifting out from 11/2 to 8/1 joint favourite with Jordan Spieth who has course expert Michael Greller on the bag.

Make sure you check out my comprehensive 2015 US Open betting preview and tips post here.

The big movers after the practice days are two of my own tips Justin Rose and Brandt Snedeker.  Merion champ Rose, who was right up there at the Masters and was just pipped by Lingmerth at Memorial, has impressed in the build up this week and has come in from 20's to 16/1.

Sneds still remains a longer odds bet at 45/1 though he has come in from 66/1 after lots of early money was wagered on him.  Winner at Pebble, Snedeker is coming off two big finishes and said to have the pace figured on the Chambers Bay greens.
