2014 World Golf Championships - Bridgestone Invitational, Betting Preview And Tips
Firestone Country Club, Akron, Ohio
Justin Rose 18/1
Justin’s best finish at Firestone was way back in 2007 when he tied second to one of Tiger’s many dominant performances but I’m backing him to be right in contention again this week. He has done okay too in his past two visits with a T5 in 2012 and T17 last year. Rested after a T23 at The Open where there was a lot of expectation following wins at Congressional and Royal Aberdeen.

Keegan Bradley 28/1
Firestone really seems to suit Keegan’s eye and he returns to the happy hunting ground this week where he won in 2012 and tied second last year. Showing decent form too with T4’s at the US Open and Greenbrier Classic and a top 20 at The Open. Great each way bet with most bookies paying an extra place this week.

Rickie Fowler 25/1
Confidence is everything. Rickie Fowler is now a totally different proposition to the man missing cuts at The Memorial and Crowne Plaza in May. Since then he has a T2 at Pinehurst, T8 at the Scottish Open and another T2 at The Open. Will be on many people’s betting slip for Valhalla also. Best of T2 at Firestone in 2011 when Adam Scott won.
Jim Furyk 25/1
Strictly for the purists this one because something has to give for Jim one way or the other. You are most likely aware that he now has seven straight losses from 54 hole leads but by the same token has another solo second from Canada to go with those at The Players and Wells Fargo. Also played great at Hoylake finishing solo fourth. You might think a 7400 yard par 70 would not suit Furyk but he has three top 10’s from his last four starts here with a best of T2 in 2012 behind Keegan Bradley. Has to haul himself off the canvass again this week.
Tiger Woods 18/1
Out of reverence to his previous performances here and those generous odds of 18/1 I simply cannot ignore Tiger Woods this week. Tiger is an eight time champion from 14 starts and has won over $10 million at the WGC Bridgestone alone. This is crunch time for Woods in terms of his playoffs and Ryder Cup aspirations and I for one expect a much improved performance from at Congressional or Hoylake.

Rory McIlroy is almost unbackable at 6/1 for the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. The Open Champion is now in possession of the very thing that gave Tiger Woods his eight wins here, namely the ability to pulverize the longest par 70 on the PGA Tour from the tee box. Rory also has three top 10’s from his last four visits.Doc’s Top Five To Watch

Long Odds Glory Shots
Gary Woodland is listed at 100/1 this week and has the power to take on holes like the 667 yard par-5 16th by the scruff of the neck. Louis Oosthuizen is another who his beginning to show glimpses of a return to form. He can be got at 70/1.Previous Top 10's
