Last Week's Record

Dubai: McIlroy favourite: tipped win. Kaymer, Gallacher, Wiesberger paid each way.
Phoenix: Bubba, Ryan Palmer paid each way.

2015 Farmers Favourites

Heading the betting is Jordan Spieth at 12/1 this week.  Missed the cut in 2013 and was T19 last year but after a T7 and Sunday 65 in Phoenix he will be looking forward to a tilt at Torrey.  Needs a straight driving week.

Rickie Fowler 25/1  has played his last three events in China, the Middle East and USA so he can be forgiven for showing some rust with a 46th in Phoenix.  Amazingly started his last two Farmers with 77’s; he missed the cut in 2014 and was T6 in 2013. That was one of four top 20 finishes from his five appearances in the event and I fully expect him to contend this week.

Doc’s Top Five To Watch

Brandt Snedeker 20/1

Missed the cut here last year in what was a poor run of form then but Sneds looked pretty impressive to me on Sunday in Arizona when compiling a 66 to finish T10.  Last year aside, Brandt has a super Torrey record because he hits the fairways and manages the courses.  Won the event in 2012 and was T2 in 2010 and 2013.  If he continues his form from Phoenix I can see him going close here.

Marc Leishman 40/1

It was a case of ‘oh so close’ for Marc here in 2014 tying second behind a (fairly fortunate on the last) Scott Stallings.  The Aussie finished his 2014 on the PGA Tour with a solo 9th at the WGC HSBC and reappeared with a T37 at the Sony Open a few weeks back.  He’s on a cut streak of six events and has three top 10’s from his last five Torrey starts.  Also finished T2 in 2010 when Ben Crane won.  On both occasions he led the field in greens hit.  Great each way shout.

Justin Thomas 40/1

Shouldn’t let his final round of 72 in Phoenix prey too much on his mind as he still finished T17 and brought his run of top 25 finishes to five.  Still young and most probably has a little more learning the nuances of the South Course at Torrey over which the final 36 holes will be played but Thomas has one Farmers under his belt and finished a creditable T10 in 2014.  I’m predicting his form continues for one more week. At least!

KJ Choi 70/1

Old KJ doesn’t get many tournaments which fit his very specialized skillset but this is certainly one.  Has top 10’d here in last two visits thanks to pounding more greens in regulation than anyone else.  Recorded three rounds in the 60’s last week in Phoenix on his way to a T22 which is also encouraging. T9 in 2013, T2 in 2014.

Long Odds Glory Shot

Aaron Baddeley 120/1

Another Aussie who has been very consistent ever since the back in October.  He’s been under par in his last five events and finished T17 in Phoenix with a Sunday 66.  Has three top 15’s since 2008 at Torrey Pines with a best of T6 in 2013.  Well worth a quid each way.

Graham DeLaet 30/1- Note: Withdrew With Flu

After missing the cut at the Sony Open the Canadian improved with a T30 at the Humana and again in Phoenix with a T7.  That’s excellent news heading to Torrey where he has put on an iron exhibition for the last two years.  A T9 in 2013 was bettered in 2014 when he was one of a group of five that tied second.
