There were 10 separate U.S. Open sectional qualifying sites yesterday to grab the last few spots for Chambers Bay.
In Jupiter
Luke Donald kept his recent good form in Ireland going by topping the leaderboard alongside Andrew Pope and amateur Jack Maguire. Sam Horsfield claimed the final spot.
Chris DiMarco and Brett Wetterich did not qualify.
In Columbus
Ohio Sam Saunders and Michael Putnam qualified on top along with David Hearn and college star Bryson DeChambeau. In form Bo Van Pelt also made it along with Camilo Villegas, Ryo Ishikawa, Sebastian Cappelen, Daniel Summerhays, George McNeill, Ryo Ishikawa, Brad Fritsch, Cameron Smith. The final spots there were claimed by Danny Lee, Robert Streb and D.A. Points.
Notable players to miss out in Ohio were Memorial winner David Lingmerth, Steve Stricker, Kevin Chappell, Vijay Singh and Alex Cejka
In Memphis
Blayne Barber,Tyler Duncan and Brad Elder all tied at the top of the leaderboard and gain US Open spots. Also qualifying there was Retief Goosen, Tom Hoge, Brandon Hagy, Charlie Beljan, Brian Harman and amateur Davis Riley. Andres Romero squeezed in style, chipping in for eagle on his final hole.
Those to miss out included Harris English, David Toms and Martin Laird.
In Purchase
Now 50, US Open specialist Lee Janzen won the qualy in New York. Jamie Lovemark, Pat Wilson and Rich Berberian also qualified.
Johnson Wagner missed out there.
In Springfield
Unknown (as yet!) pro Michael Davan won the event. In form big hitter Tony Finau eased through qualifying while Stephan Jaeger and amateur Nick Hardy also claimed US Open slots.
PGA Tour player Brian Stuard did not make it.
In Dallas
Mark Silvers won there and he qualifies along with 15-year-old Cole Hammer, Matt Mabrey, Kyle Jones, Cody Gribble, Jason Allred.
Steve Marino and Bob Estes were among those to miss out.
In Rockville
Billy Hurley III and amateur Denny McCarthy tied on top. Tim O’Neal took the last spot.
In Ball Ground
Matt NeSmith proved the best of any qualifier in the whole country with a four shot win. Lee McCoy and Roberto Castro took the other places.
In Newport Beach
Kevin Lucas won there. Beau Hossler, Jared Becher, Jake Knapp,Brian Campbell, Josh Anderson and Alex Kim took the other spots.
Those who missed out there included Fred Couples (who pulled out), Jason Gore and Patrick Cantlay.
In Cle Elum
Cheng-Tsung Pan qualified along with Richard Lee and Troy Kelly.
