This weeks M2M Russian Open features a new layout, Skolkovo, a Jack Nicklaus parkland design on 100 hectares just outside Moscow.
With 113 strategically placed bunkers and six lakes the key to the course is accuracy from the tee and hitting the greens in regulation.
My man in Russia reported after a practice round that you must hit the fairways to be then able to hit and hold the small greens. In many cases you simply cannot hold them from the rough.
David Horsey shares top billing at around 12/1 with the bookies as he returns as defending champion (at nearby Tseleevo Golf Club) and a recent winner at the Made in Denmark tournament two weeks ago. That favourite tag is shared with Max Kieffer who is back after a six week break. He has been the form dog of the Summer and after a T8 in Russia last year, has clearly marked this as an opportunity to get a maiden win.
Mike Hoey 14/1
Former winner down the road at Tseelevo in 2013, Mike has the game and experience to strike hard here while many of the Tour's big stars take a break. On a cut streak of nine events with three top-30's in his last three starts. Due a win and well capable of engineering it.
Keith Horne 40/1
Seven top-15 finishes on the Sunshine Tour in 2015 including a win at the Sun City Challenge a month ago. Watch out for Keith this week; he's not here to learn the language!
Peter Lawrie 50/1
Cut, great, cut, great, cut....what's next? No I'm not chopping carrots, that's Peter's formline in his last five. The two great finishes were a T16 in Crans Sur Sierre and T14 in Denmark two weeks ago. Another accurate man off the tee, playing well and with everything to gain this week in a tournament that has traditionally been kind to the Irish.
Dan Gaunt 50/1
Has had limited starts on the European Tour this year but after decent showings in Sweden and Austria scored big with a T9 at the BMW International in Munich. A brilliant final round 66 saw Dan finish T2 in Denmark a fornight ago and elevate him to 109th in the Race To Dubai. This one could literally put next year's food on the table.
Kevin Phelan 40/1
Sunday's have been tough on KP in his last four starts, dropping him to middle order finishes when earlier play deserved better. Strength is accuracy from the tee which gives Kevin a real chance on this course. Currently 105th in the Race To Dubai rankings; time to get some breathing space.
