My USA readers might not know but The British Masters at Woburn was a tournament returning to the European Tour schedule after many years.  It was backed by Sky Sports as part sponsor and Ian Poulter.

It turned out to be a massive success.

The golf itself, the course, the coverage and the extra work put in by Sky all contributed to making it one of the most memorable Tour events in years.

The players made more effort to be accessible and it counted.  The masterclass clinics hosted by  husband and wife team Nick and Di Doughterty were excellent as was Tim Barter joined by the likes of Lee Westwood, David Howell, Luke Donald (see his bomb here), Podge and Ian Poulter.

So credit where credit is due and hats off to the European Tour, Sky Sports, Ian Poulter and everyone behind the scenes who made the British Masters memorable. Great job.

And what a worthy winner in Matthew Fitzpatrick.  Here is the winning putt.
