Two lovely tributes to Dave Renwick from his caddie friends on Tour

I received a couple of lovely tributes today from caddie friends of Dave Renwick who passed away yesterday.

Dave Renwick was a legend when it comes to caddying and caddies.  For me a great caddie is a person who can win with all different golfers; we can all work for and win with a Spieth or a Mcllroy but Davey worked for three different golfers and won Major championships with them all which is quite unbelievable.

Dave loved his job and did it for many moons. He was a great guy to have a few drinks with; gin and tonic was his favourite!!!  He always said what he thought and as a caddie that can sometimes get you in trouble.  But that honesty is certainly priceless in the long run, and to me that is what Dave Renwick was.  Priceless.  Here is to you Davey Boy, cheers!

By Ryan McGuigan.

Ryan McGuigan, Tour winner with Richie Ramsay.
I initially thought I first met Dave around 2006 but now I remember we first met back in 1993 at the Irish open at Mount Juliet!  He let me walk half way down the fairway with him before giving me one of Jose Maria Olazabal's Titleist balatas. When I met him again in 2006 I recited this story which made him laugh, especially so because I remembered him asking me what football team I supported!

You could say then I first really met Dave in 2006 or so when he returned from the United States after a successful spell with Vijay Singh.  I always found Dave really approachable and honest; he gave me good advice and I always respected his opinion even if I didn't always agree with it!

Dave's achievements as a caddie have probably been understated. To have the success he has had with so many different players and especially in Majors is a testament to what a great caddie and calm character he was under pressure.

I got to know Dave well in the last four or five years when we both regularly flew out of Edinburgh. He had to two great loves in his life, one was his family the other Glasgow Rangers.

My thoughts are with Ruth, Laura and his extended family. He will be missed greatly on the Tour

RIP Dave "Buddy" Renwick.

Ryan had this message for Dave when he won with Richie Ramsay last March.  A very special moment to remember him amidst the euphoria of victory,
