Pat Perez Labrum Surgery
Pat Perez about to undergo surgery for a torn labia.

Get well soon to one of my favourite players Pat Perez. Torn Labia? That sounds sore duder.

Double P's people put the the details on his website.

After an uncharacteristically rough west coast swing and a missed cut at the Honda Classic, Pat Perez finally has an answer regarding his recent on-the-course struggles; a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Perez underwent surgery on Tuesday March 8th in Scottsdale, likely sidelining the 15-year PGA Tour pro until the fall series ramps up in October.

“I felt really good early January before heading to Hawaii for the Sony. On the range before Friday’s round in La Quinta the following week, things worsened and it took everything I had just to get through Saturday’s round,” Perez explained. “The rest of the west coast swing was touch and go, but during the second round at the Honda weeks back, I knew something was wrong. I pressed on—grinding it out and trying to make the cut—but couldn’t get it done. Once home, I immediately went to a specialist, had the MRI and finally had some answers.”

Perez’s relatively routine Arthroscopic Labrum Repair of the Shoulder (SLAP) surgery is a non-invasive procedure that will leave the Tour veteran in a sling for four weeks, followed by a few months of physical therapy to strengthen the shoulder and get him back to playing shape. “I’ve been competing at this level for 15 seasons now and want to be out here for at least 15 more,” Perez shared. “The timing of the injury isn’t optimum, but I’m choosing to see the positive in a negative. This is a rare opportunity for me to hit reset, get healthy and redial in my game so I can get back to business this fall. I’m already counting the days until I can practice and eventually compete again.”
