2016 Aberdeen Asset Scottish Open Betting Preview Tips And Predictions
July 8th – July 10th, 2016
Castle Stuart Golf Links, Inverness, Scotland
Par: 72 / Yardage: 7,193
Purse: $3.54 million with $828,994 to the winner
Defending Champion: Rickie Fowler
Hard to ignore Henrik Stenson at 10/1 this week. I’m sure when he heard the tournament was headed back to Castle Stuart this year he said “chalk me down for that!” The Swede has a T3 in 2013 (three bogeys in last five holes on Sunday) and T8 in 2012 on this course and comes in off a confidence boosting win at the BMW International Open in Germany. Justified favourite.
You might not think Nico is a great fit for a links but Castle Stuart suits the big hitter and doesn’t beat the players up like other courses. It’s the perfect test for the week before a Major. Nico comes in off four top-25’s in his last five starts including T3 in Mauritius and solo 3rd at the Nordea Masters. Good record on this course too with a T8 in 2013 and T3 in 2011.
The Qatar and Heritage winner showed his pedigree again at the US Open with a T5 finish and looks a real live contender this week and next. Lost in the playoff to Phil Mickelson here in 2013 and loves links golf.
This year was always going to be tough after a phenomenal 2015 for Soren as he spends time on either side of the Atlantic. There have been good performances including at The Masters, in Spain and a T20 at the Memorial but I think Soren has a good links week in him. Best result of T8 on this course in 2012 when he holed an acre of putts!
Withdrew after the first round in France after shooting 80 and suffering from a 24 hour bug that hit him hard but Thor is fully fit again and coming off a big T2 at the BMW International and I like his links golf game. Played here on three occasions without much success but worth watching each way from long odds.
Marc Warren 150/1 has been having a torrid time of late on Tour but what a Scottish Open record he has. T4 at Gullane in 2015, 3rd at Royal Aberdeen in 2014 and T3 here in 2012 when he grasped defeat from the jaws of victory. Would love to see him do well.

Top Five Each Way Bets at The Scottish Open
Alex Noren 50/1
One of my favourite players on Tour and a guy that has had to battle injury to be out there. Great to see him doing well with a solo 8th in France last week where he putted excellently. T3 here in 2012 after a bogey on the 72nd hole caused him to miss the playoff by one.
Nico Colsaerts 50/1
