Golf social media exploded after Justin Thomas's opening-round 59 at the Sony Open.

Here's a round up of all the best bits in one place.

The card glove and ball.
Notice no hole in the palm of that glove!
Much of the coverage was so early it was missed by TV cameras. But one commentator had a head-cam that got the last half hour. It's hard to watch though.

Here's the final putt.

From a different angle.

My light take on how the interview after should have gone.

Thomas's 18th was epic after being bunkered off the tee. He was about to just dunch it out short of the green when Daniel Berger, also in the trap, went for broke and pulled it off.

“It was sitting really good to where it felt like I could get a 6-iron or 7-iron on it and just get it short of the green. And then I hear [Berger’s] caddie say 4-iron for them,” Thomas said. “I was like, man, can I hit it on the green? I'm like, I guess I can hit it on the green, I don't know.”

Here he talks through it.

The presser after.

Geoff Shak had an interesting Shotlink comparison of lots of 59's and how they were constructed.
