Bookmaking firms across the UK and Ireland have stopped taking bets on Tiger Woods yesterday after being inundated with wagers on him finishing in the top 20 at the 2017 Hero World Challenge.

Woods announced his return to competitive golf at the event which starts November 30th.

"We offered odds of 10/1 that Tiger will finish in the top-20 and we took over fifty million euro in bets yesterday alone," said Paddy Power.  There's something dodgy going on here and we cant understand it.  So we've stopped taking bets until we check it out."

Woods is set to join Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Hideki Matsuyama in the exclusive 18 man no-cut event in Albany in The Bahamas.
