A detailed look at the golf clubs and specs used by Chris Kirk at the Honda Classic and his performance stats with the clubs.
Despite this year's Honda Classic being the equivalent of a people carrier stuck in a traffic jam of supercar events it provided a Rolls Royce finish with Chris Kirk dramatically becoming a PGA Tour winner again after a gap of almost eight years.
With the stars all away, journeyman Kirk defeated 34-year-old PGA Tour rookie Eric Cole in a playoff to seal the emotional win.
With a one shot lead playing the last Kirk went for the par-5 green in two only to see his ball hit the top edge of the stone wall surrounding the green, then get a massive bounce towards the middle of the lake, where it could've easily gone through the windscreen of the tournament sponsor's floating Honda! That led to bogey, Cole parred and we were into a playoff.
In sudden death Kirk had to lay-up his second shot after a nervy drive, while Cole went for the green and found the back bunker. From 109 yards, Kirk's wedge was nailed to perfection, zipping back to no more than a foot from the hole. When Cole missed his 10-foot birdie putt, Kirk tapped in the tiddler for the win.
Afterwards Kirk struggled to put his emotions into words but attributed his sobriety to his success thanking his family and God for saving him from alcoholism.
Since the turn of the year Kirk has jumped from world number 62 to currently 32 and can look forward to a season of Majors ahead.
