Former Major Champion Rich Beem was rushed to hospital in Abu Dhabi this morning after collapsing in the Sky Sports Golf studios.

Beem was just hours into his first morning in the Sky Sports commentary box when he suddenly collapsed. "One minute he was fine just listening to me talking, next he was face down on the carpet," said Mark Roe who was working alongside Beem at the time.

At a hastily arranged press conference on the steps of the hospital, chief registrar Dr Abdel Tariq Al Shafiq issued a statement.

"I am happy to say Mister Beem is doing fine and will be released in a couple of hours.  He presented at the hospital in a dazed and distressed state this morning.  We diagnosed him as suffering from tinnitus, or ringing ear drums brought on by severe and sudden emotional stress.  This is not uncommon for people who are subjected to extreme amounts of concentrated bullshit in an enclosed area."

Beem is expected back in the Sky Sports commentary booth tomorrow, alongside Ewan Murray. On strict doctors orders.
