2015 Greenbrier Classic Betting Preview and Picks
July 2nd – 5th, 2015
The Old White Course, White Sulphur Springs, W.V.
Par: 70 / Yardage: 7,287
Purse: $6.7 million with $1,206,000 to the winner
Defending Champion: Angel Cabrera
Favourite: Bubba Watson 10/1

No surprise here after winning at The Travelers last week.  Angel Cabrera won here in 2014 so bombers can have success.  Top 30 on his last two visits to White Sulphur Springs.

Doc’s Five To Watch

Paul Casey 25/1

I felt Paul should have been out on the range keeping focussed at The Travelers while Bubba was finishing his final round but that’s done now.  That solo second finish was thanks in major part to a field topping greens in regulation clip; something that is going to be vital again this week on a course with small undulating greens which are tough to scramble around.  No course experience but should love the rural low key setting this week.

Graham DeLaet 28/1

After signs of promise at the Byron Nelson and Memorial DeLaet came good with a solo 4th last week at The Travelers and was value for it in the final round as he battled until the end.  Has been in the top 25 greens in regulation players in his last five tournaments and last week he featured in the top 10 putters for the first time.  If he keeps his form going, DeLaet will be up there again this week.  Did not play in 2014 but T30 in 2013 and T12 in 2012.

Webb Simpson 28/1

Showed in his T2 at Quail Hollow that he CAN putt and is due a big week.  First start since the US Open but a genuine horse for the course.  Since the place got a much needed revamp after the 2010 staging, Simpson was T9 in 2011, T7 in 2012 and 3rd in 2014.  Plenty of converging lines there for an each way punt.

Keegan Bradley 33/1

Driving everyone insane with his antics around the ball lately but I’m really starting to get the feeling Bradley is hitting his irons well again.  Faded after an opening 64 at The Travelers but may enjoy the extra room off the tee this week.  T4 here last year and barking mad!

Billy Haas 28/1

A solid performer at The Greenbrier over the last few seasons, Billy has a best of T2 in 2011 and more recently a T9 in 2013.  Left a few punters disappointed at Chambers Bay when he missed the cut after bringing in good form with a top 20 at Memorial and T4 at The Players.  Bill’s game is totally predicated on hitting greens in regulation so this has to be a great opportunity for him.

Long Odds Glory

GCD readers will know Tony Finau has been on my radar for a while now and is available at 50/1 this week.  Six top 25 finishes in a row after The Travelers last week.  Scrambling might be an issue for Tony this week but if he hits all the greens like Cabrera last year that solves that problem!
