Betting Preview And Tips for the 2017 South African Open on the European Tour.
BMW South African Open Betting Tips
January 12th – 15th, 2017
Glendower Golf Club, Ekurhuleni, South Africa
Par: 72 / Yardage: 7,594
Purse: $1 million with $175,000 to the winner
Defending Champion: Brandon Stone
Rory McIlroy is in the field at 2/1 with a mish mash of new clubs and it's going to be fantastic to watch the progress of his opening salvo. A massive coup for the European Tour and the SA Open to bag Rors this early.

I think Andy is probably out at 12/1 by virtue of Rory being in the field but I for one am not complaining. Missed the cut last year but he was defending the title he won at Glendower in 2015 so no shame there. Finished 2016 well with a T3 at the Nedbank on South African soil so worth a squeak.
Jaco is an impressive player and had some solid results in 2016 finishing it with a solo 10th at The Nedbank and T35 at the Tour Championship. The difference between solid and winning is simply down to his putting. Jaco knows he has the game for Glendower with a T18 and T12 in the past three stagings but if the putts fall he can be in the mix.
I saw a stat recently saying that Blandy tapped in 484 birdies on the European Tour during the 2016 season and am keen to see if he can finally get over the whitewash and grab a win this time around. Went on a super run from the Omega European Masters to the British Masters last year and there's an opportunity to get a fast start here this week on a course that suits his game.
My top tip for 2017. Thomas "arrived" last season on the Challenge Tour destroying the field at the Bridgestone Challenge. His winning score was something like 29 under and he won by 12! Got off to a flyer on the 2017 Race To Dubai with a solo third at the Alfred Dunhill so it will be fascinating to see how he progresses.
I just like Trevor for this tournament the past few years. T8 here in 2016 and went on to play well in Joburg and Abu Dhabi. Also T15 in the SA Open in 2015 and T7 in 2014 which makes him, by my reckoning, statistically the best performer here over the past three years. That'll do me!
Q School graduate Paul caught my eye at 125/1. T5 here in 2015. Recovered from a first round 74 at the Alfred Dunhill in December to finish a creditable T11.
