2018 Farmers Betting Preview and Tips

January 25th – 28th, 2018
Torrey Pines, San Diego, California
South, Par: 72 / Yardage: 7,698
Purse: $6.9 million with $1,206,000 to the winner
Defending Champion: Jon Rahm

I'm at the 2018 PGA Show and had very little time to consider my tips this week but here goes!

While you're reading this….is there a  guy sitting over there at the bar blurting out that Torrey Pines is a bombers paradise? Its not. Ask Sneds and KJ Choi.  Yes the South course is nearly 7,700 yards but miss the fairway and it has hack out rough like brillo pads. You have to be straight.
The field also play either Thursday or Friday on the refurb'd North course which is no joke and that brings an element of chance with regards to wind and weather.  On paper the North plays easier but golf isn't played on paper.

Farmers Open Fantasy Picks
2018 Farmers Open Betting Tips

Jon Rahm (6/1) defends but the real story is how will Tiger Woods (22/1) perform. He owns the place with seven Tour wins and a Major here in 2008…..on a broken leg.

Docs Four Best Each Way Bets At The Farmers

Justin Rose 16/1

Rosey was T22 and putted like a County Council dump truck ignition on a cold winter's morning in Abu Dhabi but tee to green he was head and shoulders above the rest.  Word was circulating even before the event about his ball striking and Rose went T10 in driving accuracy whilst averaging 310 yards then T4 in greens in regulation.  You have to imagine he'll have worked hard in the interim on his putting and given that prolific streak before Christmas he should contend again after a T4 last year.

Marc Leishman 25/1

Marc looks a sold each way punt to me at Torrey Pines.  Three top-10's in his last five starts and delving deeper you'll find he's consistently putting with the best on Tour right now. Came second twice here in 2010 and 2014.

Brian  Harman 33/1

Brian is one of those road warriors that just enters every event  and thus fatigue has to be a factor.  But five top 10 in his last six starts say he's a human ATM just now so why stop.  Nobody on Tour comes within an asses roar of Harman's driving accuracy and greens hit stats since back at the WGC HSBC Champions and given that he's been in the top 25 putters in his last five starts make he's a lock for me. T9 last year was his best out of five career visits.

Brandt Snedeker 50/1

Purely there as a function of his form on the course and the fact he likes an old early season cash grab here and at Pebble.  Winner here in 2012 and 2016 and runner up in 2013. Worth some spare change!
